My sister called! I've written her a letter...
by Confession ini was working in corpus christi this past weekend, when my sister called out of the blue on sunday.
she, like the rest of my family, is a very zealous jw, and since i am recognized as an apostate, i haven't seen nor spoken to her in about four years.
i was completely shocked that she called.

My dad likes to say, "Slicker than snot on a greasy doorknob."
Mr. Fiorini's dad used to say, "Colder than a well diggers ass in the Klondike."
I don't know where this stuff comes from.

Thank you Lifetime Network
by JimmyPage inmy wife was watching a movie on lifetime called "in god's country" about a religious cult.
it gave me the perfect opportunity to tell her the identifying marks of a cult.
i said, "cults claim they have a direct pipeline to god, that everyone outside of their group is under the influence of satan, and they keep people in line by practicing shunning.

Great job!! This is the way to help people out of the WT without triggering all the defenses to go up. Let us know if your tactics eventually pay off.

Met a non-practicing JW at the airport - indoctronization is strong
by Robert7 ini was witnessed from a guy who has never been to meetings!.
so i was sitting at an airport bar, watching the obama parade on tv, and the guy next to me mentions to me that he likes obama, but didn't vote.
this guy does not meet the typical jw profile.

It's sad isn't it? Just goes to show that many more are damaged by the org than the 7 million members they claim. I agree with leavingwt. We have a lot of work to do.

I just sent an email to the governing body
by Awakened at Gilead ini sent a link to my new video and told them that they were featured in it.
i hope this induces mass hysteria at the tower office.. i guessed the addresses, and i haven't gotten any error messages.
so if you want to send a message to the gb or anyone else, the address should be:.

I find this tour of the UN incredible! I know JWs who would die before stepping foot in a church because it is the "harlot" and from Satan. I can't believe they would feel comfortable touring the "wild beast" either.
I think if the average JW heard this, they would be shocked! I am.
What would they do if Armageddon started in the middle of their tour?
What is this obsession the WTS has with the UN?

144,000
by thebigdebate inwould the average jw think that the number of 144,00 was a literal number, even if the partakers were over 144,000?
or would they just go with what the gb says?.
i think that they would say that it is figurative literal number.

The average JW will accept whatever explanation the WT gives and go along with any changes, supressing any doubts they may have with thoughts like, "wait on Jehovah" or "where else would we go?" and so forth.
If they have become disillusioned somehow, they will notice whatever contradiction is most immediately in front of them and use it to find their way out. That's the nature of cults IMO.

I've a new date!:-)
by Newborn ini know, sorry...this must be tiring for you to hear but i feel glad.
i need it and it gives me hope that there may be a good guy out there for me.
snowbird...any comments?

Newborn,
I don't know your background, but if you're like me and raised in the WT, you've had it drilled into you that dating is only for marriage and you'd better figure out if you could marry him before agreeing to go out on that first date (fully chaperoned, of course). It's really too bad we were taught to think that way.
Once I left the WT, I still found myself only dating men that I felt I could be seriously interested in. This can be a real handicap since you often don't know if you could be seriously interested in someone until you've gone out with him and gotten to know him a little bit.
Despite it all, Mr. Fiorini and I were somehow able to get together. So don't give up hope.
It's not easy having WT baggage to carry around is it?

Because it has worked that way for them. The problem with that idea, though, is that everyone is different. I do not believe there is a one-size-fits-all spirituality.

Lurkers and newbies please read
by smiddy inthis is for the lurker or the newbie who might be overwhelmed by information he/she will find on this site for the first time.
how do you know that this information is true and correct?
the organization will label these sites as apostates or liars in what they say , how do you distinguish the truth ?

Farkel, you criticize JWs for not researching their religion and you are absolutely right. I wish they would realize how ridiculous and hypocritical it is to knock on other people's doors telling them to do that, when they are terrified, and even forbidden, to do the same.

Witnesses don't tell you everything up front -They boil you slow like a frog!
by Witness 007 input a frog in boiling water and he jumps out....but turn the heat up slow and he will boil alive.
{i hate brothers using this in talks} imagine if the witnesses told you up front what life as a witness will be like.. 1. you can never leave us when your baptized...ever, for any reason, your a witness for the rest of your life.
we will disfellowship you for leaving.. 2. you and your family members must be trained to be willing to die rather then accept blood transfusions, even escaping from the hospital and or pulling out the drip.

Yes, this is so true. If they were a decent religion with a legitimate theology, they would never have to resort to these manipulations and deceptions. The fact that they do should be a major red flag for anyone evaluating them.
